What is LEAP All About?

I am thrilled to share more about the 2025 L.E.A.P Conference and what makes it so special. L.E.A.P, which stands for Leading and Excelling, Academically and Professionally, is an annual conference held for 10th-12th grade students in Iowa. While all students are welcome, a majority of the attendees are first-generation, low-income, or underrepresented students. L.E.A.P can make such a difference in these students’ lives by getting them connected with individuals and resources that will help shape their futures- no matter what path they choose.

The day begins with a keynote speaker, followed by four 30 minute breakout sessions and lunch. The breakout sessions are led by college and organization representatives from across Iowa, and cover topics ranging from financial aid to the importance of networking. We end the conference with a college and resource fair, where students can explore more options for their future.

As a first-generation college student myself, I’m looking forward to being part of this big day and providing students with tools that will help them take charge of their academic and professional success. This year, the L.E.A.P Conference will be held at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday, December 2. We’ll kick off the day at 9:15am with check in and will conclude the resource fair at 2:00pm.

I encourage high school counselors and CCTC’s to consider bringing a small group - even just three students. It could make a world of difference to them! Interested? Get complete details and register on the Iowa ACAC website or email me with questions at [email protected].
