Meet the new Iowa ACAC logo!

We had over 30 submissions, and it was incredible to see the range of creative designs developed by our members. But in the end one stood out. 

All logo submissions were coordinated by our Executive Assistant, who shared them with the Publications and Marketing Committee for review. After careful consideration, the committee selected the top five designs to present to the Executive Board. During our meeting on December 9, the Board voted to select our new official logo, with only the Executive Assistant knowing the identities of the designers.

We are proud to award a $1,000 prize to our winner Conner Ellinghuysen of Buena Vista University. He and his wife Christine worked tirelessly to capture an image they felt speaks volumes about our profession, our Association, and our state. We agree.

Our new look honors where we've come from, rooted in strong relationships, service, and access for students across every corner of Iowa. The familiar outline reminds us that our work is shaped by communities both large and small, rural and urban, traditional and ever-evolving.

The fields and rising sun symbolize growth and possibility, reflecting the steady work our counselors do every day: planting seeds, nurturing potential, and helping opportunities take root. The wind turbine and landscape pay tribute to Iowa’s heritage of hard work, resilience, and innovation, always moving forward.

Most importantly, this logo represents our Association’s commitment to progress, inclusion, and thoughtful leadership in a changing admissions landscape. Iowa ACAC is not standing still. We are adapting, advocating, and creating new pathways for our members and students, all while staying true to our core mission.

Our members, who are bright professionals and dedicated counselors, support students and families through the admissions process, working statewide through every educational season. The logo is inviting, reflecting what any Iowan sees as they travel: the sun on the horizon promises that no matter what challenges we face, tomorrow brings new opportunities and Iowa ACAC remains strong among NACAC affiliates and the college admission profession.

Every time we see the logo, we’re reminded of the beauty of Iowa and the pride and connection we feel as we help students on their journey.
