The Iowa ACAC Inclusion, Access, and Success Committee is excited to host the third annual L.E.A.P. Conference on Wednesday, April 4, 2018!
L.E.A.P. (Leading & Excelling, Academically & Professionally) is a leadership conference for Iowa’s underrepresented high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors and will be offered Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at Mount Mercy University’s Graduate Center. This conference will empower underrepresented students to understand how achieving academic success and pursuing a higher education leads to life-long rewards. The conference will focus on the pursuit of higher education, along with leadership, responsibility, becoming a respectful young adult, and encouraging participants to make successful life choices.
The L.E.A.P. conference will provide breakout sessions to equip students with information on the importance of being a positive role model, leadership, academics, work ethic, teamwork, and positioning one’s self to be successful in high school and beyond.
By helping this population of students identify the successes and accomplishments of others from similar backgrounds, we can help them tap into their true potential to be successful in their academic endeavors and professional aspirations. It is critical to build self-esteem in these students so that our community is creating positive leaders for tomorrow.
Goals
· To encourage the completion of educational and professional goals.
· To teach the students how to empower one another and to work cooperatively.
· To create an opportunity for the students to feel a sense of belonging.

· To encourage the students to become respectful and responsible young adults.
