The Freddy Miranda Access Scholarship is awarded based on financial need, good character, honesty, and responsible behavior within their community. Selection is made without regard to race, color, creed, religion, gender, disability or national origin. In 2026, five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded.

Recipients must renew their scholarship each year. Scholarship is renewable for up to 4 years, if recipient maintains a 2.5 GPA.

Scholarship monies will be granted on a yearly basis (full grant to be divided equally between first and second semesters).

Eligibility:
  •        Applicant must be attending a high school or college/university in Iowa that is a member of Iowa ACAC. If the applicant is a high school senior, both the current high school and future college must be members of Iowa ACAC.
  •        Applicant must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.00+ scale and current transcript must be provided.
  •        Applicant must renew each year with preference given to previous award recipients; a limit of four (4) awards per student; an award in one year does not automatically result in an award the following year.
  •        Award will be contingent upon proof of registration/enrollment.
  •        A copy of the applicant's transcript (official or unofficial) must be received before the award will be disbursed.

Preference:

The Scholarship Selection Committee will give preference to applicants that are/have:

  •       An award recipient from the previous year
  •       First-Generation and/or demonstrate financial need
  •       Identified as an underrepresented student

Students may apply on their own for the scholarship. Although not required, it is highly encouraged that students also include a letter of recommendation from a school counselor, instructor, employer, or advisor. We will not accept letters from immediate family members.
